Android Powered Wacom Tablet By Derick Schweppe

Android Powered Wacom Tablet By Derick Schweppe

I use a Wacom everyday and love the experience except why not just make it a screen with multitouch? I was delighted when a twitter follower tipped me off on this concept by Derick Schweppe. Let me preface by saying this is an unofficial concept. The Android OS Wacom tablet can be used as an input for fully featured software like Photoshop and incorporates a dual digitizer with both active pen and touch input. When sketching with the pen, palm rejection is activated. The tablet utilizes a high quality IPS display. Do want!

Holey Jolly Cup By Makiko Nakamura

Holey Jolly Cup By Makiko Nakamura

Holy cheese anyone? This is a cup with holes in it. What’s the use? Well it keeps your hands cool when you pour in a hot drink, for one. But wait! Won’t the hot drink sploosh out the sides when poured in the top? No way! Know why? Because there’s two layers. The outer layer has holes, the inner layer contains the liquid. Sound good? Sounds super fancy! Sounds great!

Oh Makiko Nakamura, you are a designer of some excellent intent. Not only does one pay more attention to the container one is drinking out of when they’re drinking out of this, they’ve got a completely functional hand protector on their hands. If your drink is super hot or if your drink is super cool, doesn’t matter! Your hands will be safe. Rockin!

Not impressed with diamonds or carat size? The M3 and M4 rings might appeal to you. Each stainless steel screw is set in sterling silver, cut to reveal the screw threads. It’s even removable should you suddenly need a screw in that size for some emergency. Torx screwdriver not included.

Ring Hanger By Sooyon Park

Ring Hanger By Sooyon Park

The first thing I said when I saw the images of this concept was “brilliant.” I am not kidding you, scout’s honor. This is truly brilliant. This is “Ring Hanger” by Sooyon Park, and it’s one of those things that someone sits there writing down everything they can think of about hangers and comes to. They come to it, they write it down again, and they say “hey, this might just work!” And they try it, and it does. And it’s ringtastic.

It’s rings! It’s just rings on poles. Each ring sits in place and holds another hanger in place. What a total moment of genius! Each of these rings is made of silicon while the rest is made of wood.

Wireless Streaming Music Center By Bluelarix Designworks

Wireless Streaming Music Center By Bluelarix Designworks

The Wireless Streaming Music Centre has an auspicious design (check floating iPod Touch) which could work in its favor among a sea of “me too” competitors. Like other systems on the market, it streams music, connects to your iPod and computer and daisy chains with other units should you want to expand the system. The difference is it also has a hard drive to potentially store music right in the unit.

Lawn For Rain Umbrella Holder By Cun-Min Zheng Yan-Zhen Li amp Xin-Yu Wang

Lawn For Rain Umbrella Holder By Cun-Min Zheng Yan-Zhen Li amp Xin-Yu Wang

for the splatter of rain-soaked umbrellas! The Lawn For Rain is a really neat dish that has a dash of green springs at the bottom of the tray and huge sponge fingers. The idea is to mesh your wet umbrellas between the sponge fingers so that they soak in the water and dry it. The tiny plants at the bottom are kept hydrated via the excess drained water. Personally I think its a cute idea, but for cities like mine, where monsoons create havoc only for three months in a year, the poor plants would die of thirst later!

GE Electric Charging Station By Yves Behar

GE Electric Charging Station By Yves Behar

Lookie here, Yves Behar of Fuseproject designed GE’s Wattstation – a smart grid ready Level 2 charging station which means a 240 volt power supply that can be rapidly charged. The modular design makes each station future proof, allowing customers to easily upgrade as more options become available. This allows customers to stay current with the latest technology, while providing the ability for commercial property owners to qualify for LEED points.

On average the WattStation decreases EV charging time from 12-18 hours to as little as 4-8 hours compared to standard charging, assuming a 24 kWh battery and a full-cycle charge. How long before we start seeing these pop up all over cities? I’m so giddy to be alive during this great paradigm shift in transportation.
