IPad 2 Window – Virtual Window Design By John Leung

IPad 2 Window - Virtual Window Design By John Leung

I was once referred as “loopy” by a group of designers because I wanted a house with giant displays in lieu of actual windows. The displays could provide a real view of the outside world or provide any kind of scenery I wanted. Fast forward 8 years later and someone else is thinking the same using the iPad 2. Doable yes? But will anyone do it? Doubt it. I still think it’s a cool idea though.

Econut IPad Cover Made From Coconut Fibers By Cho Youg-jo amp Jeoung Jun-tae

Econut IPad Cover Made From Coconut Fibers By Cho Youg-jo amp Jeoung Jun-tae

The coconut tree perhaps is the most giving tree in all of nature. What I mean is that every part of the tree is used in some industry or another. So it makes complete logical sense for young designers with an eco initiative to come up with an iPad cover made from materials sourced from the coconut tree! This is the story of Econut, a cover that blends back into nature after serving its purpose to the iPad.

IPad Case amp Wall Mount The Wallee Review

IPad Case amp Wall Mount The Wallee Review

The iPad is a very useful and portable device but you’d be surprised at the number of poorly designed wall mounts for it. The Wallee is one of the better ones and we’ve got your review right after the jump. Designed in the land down under – why wouldn’t you want something semi related to a kangaroo?

Block22 IPad Stand By SherwoodMeister

Block22 IPad Stand By SherwoodMeister

Oh, to be held by a block of wood. The warm embrace of Mother Nature herself, all chopped down to a convenient size for us humanoids. Or in this case, us pieces of technological wonder. This is a stand for the iPad, the “Block22″ to be exact, and it’s mainly made of wood. Designers at Sherwood+Meister have created a masterpiece in simplicity and craftsmanship. Each piece is carved from a solid block of FSC-certified kiln-dried Ipe wood – a South American hardwood “prized for its enduring strength and density.” Ohh! Super fancy.

Each piece of wood used in the creation of the Block22 is harvested according to Forest Stewardship Council criteria, ensuring fair compensation for workers and sustainable harvesting techniques. After the carving and hand-stamping with polished aluminum accents, each Block22 is hand-rubbed with a fabulous satin finish.

The Block22’s groove is designed to match the iPad’s sensual curves in the most warm embrace, no matter the orientation, in a way that allows you easy access to all the buttons and switches. Along the bottom is 100% wool felt padding to provide a secure footing during use.

22 groove cut to match curvature of the iPad

Size: 4.25″ x 5.25″ x 0.875″ (10.8 cm x 13.3 cm x 2.2 cm)
Weight: ~0.80 pounds (362 grams)

ISketch Sketching Support For IPad By Psychic Factory

ISketch Sketching Support For IPad By Psychic Factory

The rounded form of the iPad gives it a very sleek look, but may not the ideal form when using it as a sketch pad on the table. The iSketch offers a snug-fitting protective support for the device, plus doubles up as a powermat for charging it. The accompanying sketch pen and plenty of sketching apps make it feel like creative-utopia for the moment, but only time and a real-life product review will tell if its worth the effort or not!

Intel Link Mobile Phone Concept By Mark Law amp David Law For Particle Design

Intel Link Mobile Phone Concept By Mark Law amp David Law For Particle Design

That would be my simple explanation for the Intel Link Concept Phone. Easy and simple, the idea exploits the benefits of smartphones, computers and notebooks and linking them together in a dual screen phone. As the twins explain it (Mark n David are twins!) Link with a dual screen allows for unique interaction while being in constant contact with a partnering notebook, utilizing the notebooks processing power, hard drive and software. The hand set has back to back screens, offering unique scope of interactivity. Sweet!

ITVPad By DarkDesignGroup

Russians are not to be left out of the iPad hype and until they get one, here’s an alternative I’m quite jealous of. It’s a set of plastic covers and decals to turn your flat screen into a giant iPad called the iTVPad. I want, no I MUST have this. If anything, it’ll be a great way to dress up an old flat screen I have sitting in the closet. Yes friends, it has a whopping 800×600 resolution, even less than the iPad.

IPad Cam-Case By Chet Rosales

IPad Cam-Case By Chet Rosales

Ha, Im one up on you iPad users and I dont even own an iPad for that matter! But if I were to buy one Id team mine up with the iPad Cam-Case , because it makes up for the loss of a camera on the pad! What makes the concept super-awesome is that the camera can be rotated to capture your face when video-chatting. The camera is located in the corner which works well for landscape or portrait viewing and the rubber-plastic case provides a better grip when handling the device.

The bottom half slides out so that you can slip-in the iPad, plus a built in port is located on the bottom of the case for docking and charging purposes.

All I need now is an iPad, oh and this case!

IMousePad By DarkDesignGroup

Let me tell you a little bit about what I know of world commerce. There’s information, which travels at the speed of light, then there’s product, which travels at the speed of a van, then a boat, then a van, then a train, then a car. It’s slower than light. This causes a bit of annoyance in the world of electronics and multimedia. Why? Because Russia doesn’t have their iPads yet! So what did the folks at DarkDesignGroup (Russian design group) do?

They made the iMousePad.

Simple. Silly. Amazing.

And that’s all there really is to say about that. It’s a mouse pad. It’s clever. It’s excellent.

And I don’t think it’s licensed by Apple. Just a hunch.
