One Glass For Every Drink By Sven MILCENT amp The Utopik Design Lab

One Glass For Every Drink By Sven MILCENT amp The Utopik Design Lab

Sven MILCENT & the Utopik Design Lab have done it! They’ve taken our entire collected evolution of cup-making and holding of drink history and combined it into one cup. One cup to hold them all. This is “One Glass for Every Drink” and it’s made to work for everyone. It of course tends to the four main glass-specific types of drink: water, cognac, wine, and champagne. It uses the same head and a different base for each of these. Sounds lovely doesn’t it? Let’s have a sip or two and talk about it.

This isn’t the first interchangeable base cup we’ve had here on Yanko, and it wont be the last. It’s a fantastic idea and deserving of a slew of attempts at it in order to make it perfect. Here’s one with some really fabulous ideas, and rather elegant ones if I do say so myself.

And while we’re at it, I’ve got to say that my favorite drink glass in the world must be the snifter – looked after here closely by that cognac glass on it’s side. Very sassy. Very nice. Very on it’s side where it definitely aught to be, havin a great time.

Orbital Washing Machine By Tiffany Roddis

Orbital Washing Machine By Tiffany Roddis

What are your steps for laundry at home? Sorting clothes in separate baskets, loading the washer with the first batch and then adjusting the detergentfinally get the washed batch out into a basket and dry em up. Load the next! How about cutting a few steps in the process, revamping the concept of washing machines and getting you an Orbital? The machine-drum here is the baskettwo baskets actually, white for the whites and blue for the color clothes. So in practice you sort the clothes as and when you discard them, load the drum and carry that same very drum to the drying lines, after the washing is done!

The goodness doesnt end here, the spherical drum fit in such a way that they pivot on two axes, surging the clothes in all directions for a faster and more energy efficient wash. Plus they can be lifted out of the washing machine making loading and unloading of clothes easier.

Once the drum is inserted into the machine the solenoid valve is activated and engages the drive. The drive rotates the drum and the weight of the clothes spinning would then rotate around in another direction. As the drum rotates in all directions a centrifugal force is acting on the drum. As the drum spins it forces the clothes to stick to the inner sides of the drum allowing the water to pass through and efficiently washes the clothes.

In a conventional washing machine a large amount of energy is needed to drive the drum through the water, however in orbital the water is pumped through and sprayed out on to the drum through a shower which surrounds the tub. The drum would require less energy to spin through the water and less water in needed as it is being continually pumped around and sprayed.

The detergent tray is unique too; its been designed to release just the right amount of washing powder / liquid per wash, depending upon the load and water.

Two Leg Table By Shay Carmon And Ben Klinger

Two Leg Table By Shay Carmon And Ben Klinger

I’m in love with the Two Leg Coffee Table. The Corian table top has always been a favorite of mine in kitchens because it reminds me of milk. I adore the way the oak legs intimately meet into the table surface too. Although the description says two legs, I still see four – just not in the traditional sense. By increasing the surface area of the main support legs, you get stability.

90 Magnetic Scissors By Sang-in Lee amp Yun-je Sung

90 Magnetic Scissors By Sang-in Lee amp Yun-je Sung

90% Magnetic Scissors is an awesome tool for folks who go snip-snip all day. The scissor-head houses power-magnets in their internal seam, which uses the repel action to cut an easy snip. A good thing is that you can change the poles at the flick of a button, to keep the blades locked into place. Apparently 90% of the force used for cutting is sourced from the magnetic power, and 10% comes from your end. Easy cut-cut I say!
