Lipedus Watch by Adrin Castro

I like my watches like I like my lovers- on time and looking good! Seriously though, I prefer a sleek, minimal yet masculine design that will achieve those two simple things. The Lepidus collection is for the purist who knows what they want. In carbon, steel and platinum finishes, this is a modern man’s watch through and through. Just look at this hunk wearing it!

Lumen Circular Switches by Magdalna urdov & Tereza Matykov

Lumen Circular Switches have the advantage of bearing a basic framework on which modulation can be done depending upon luxury, style and needs. The design focus is on three segments – the frame, button caps and buttons. The innards offer sufficient space for a complete set of application components such as wiring the thermostat, switch, etc. A very simple design that offers a range of combinations, I think its neat!

Wooden Desk by Shpelyk Roman

I’m loving this solid wood desk by designer Shpelyk Roman. With a swinging top level and two planes to work on, it achieves the functionality of a multi-level desk while still maintaining aesthetic minimalism. The tapered, wide-stance legs are an interesting compliment to the square top and can be removed for easy transportation simply by twisting. Great as a desk or table for the small work studio or apartment.

Pinch – Clothes Hanger by Jaineel Shah

I know I’m not the only one who’s paid the price for being lazy about hanging up my clothes! I have carelessly stretched out the necks of my shirts because I’d rather force a rigid hanger through the neck rather than come up the bottom. The Pinch hanger is a efficient and easy solution to my problem. Made of a flexible Polypropylene and Elastomer mix, the user only has to pinch the arms together and slide the hanger into place. Speed up the process while preserving your threads!

Record me Home Recorder by Luc van Hoeckel

Record me is an ingenious way to pass on messages and stay in touch with busy family members. Most of us have adopted the sticky-note-on-the-fridge routine; Record me changes this to a voice message that can be easily recorded and played back. The video explains the procedure and I think it is a clever way to stay in touch, I mean Id much rather listen to my son speak than decipher his scrawny note!

Wavy Tea Set by Patricia Wong

The Wavy Tea Set isn’t just nice to look at- the layers and unique organic form are purposed as such that each fits naturally and comfortably in the user’s hand. The alternative “handle” design was inspired by the process of glass blowing and captures the pulling action of hot glass being formed.

Sky Voyage – Personal Aircraft by Jet Shao

Inspired by airships and paragliding sports, the Sky Voyage concept aims to expand traffic networks to the sky by utilizing airspace to relieve urban traffic congestion on the ground. The hybrid glider/airship can take off vertically by inflating the gasbag in an upright position. Once airborn, the craft can be maneuvered through the wind with assistance from a hydrogen fuel-cell powered turbine engine.

Quantum Tap by Dennis Kulage & Michael Scherger

Quantum Tap gives you a good reality check on how much water you think you use and the actual. Working on the lines of how syringe works, the tap activates by pulling up a pump action-handle. Scaled markings on the stem of the handle indicate the amount of water that will be released by pulling the handle to a specific correlating height. You can choose how much water you want to use and pull up the handle accordingly. The faucet looks neat and the idea pretty simple; my only concern is soapy hands and a messy tap.

Quantum Tap is a 2011 red dot design concept winner.

Pour-Smart Kitchen Knife & Scoop by Junjie Piao

Experience is a good teacher they say and designer Junjie Piao learnt a good lesson with it. A stint in chopping celery sticks left him frustrated, especially when it was time to scoop and transfer them to a bowl. He decided to design something to make this process easier without disturbing slicing. Thus was born Pour-Smart, an L-shaped plastic piece and a bar of strong magnet. The contraption allows you to chop and easily transfer food from the cutting board to a bowl. Simple and very useful is my verdict!

BlackBerry Concept Phone by John Anastasiadis

Very rarely do designers venture into the BlackBerry turf. I think the perception of it being a serious business phone deters concept enthusiasts. For the moment we have this refreshing concept, which capitalizes on the new screen technology that is flexible, lightweight and transparent. Iterated as candy bar and a slider, the phones feature a “smart” wrap around screen and knows the difference between an intentional command and a hand holding the phone!

John explains, “The front and back cameras are positioned underneath the screens. When needed the area around the camera lens becomes transparent. The wrap around screen can allow for separate workspaces and/or a more three-dimensional interaction with the device. Obvious benefits apply to business, entertainment and navigation applications.”

Dabba means lunchbox in Hindi and is inspired by the Dabbawallas of Mumbai. This ingenious design aims at making you choose healthy food options and pack a balanced meal for work. Whoop – de – doo Sex Toys for Women by Anna Mareov

Time and again we have seen designers trying to shake the image of sex toys being loud, crass and inartistic. We have here the Whoop de doo set of Classic Vibrators, Venus Balls and Vibrating Egg; slickly packaged and designed for pleasure giving, and yes they are artistic. I think it helps that a women designs these products, simply because she knows what she wants. As for the tech-specs, the toys come with a handy induction charging system, making them completely wireless and hassle-free.

Split Table by Tore Bleuz

At first sight the Split Table seems to be like any other, but take a closer examination and you’ll see there are no nuts, bolts or glue. The table is held together only by tension and flexibility between its plywood pieces. The functional joints is as much a part of the aesthetic as it is the construction. Best of all, you can own the limited series table here!

HTC Autonome Concept Mobile Phone by Francois Rybarczyk

The Autonome is a mobile phone concept with a unique charging feature. The regular way to do this will be to directly plug-in the phone to the wall socket, negating the use of any cables. Alternatively, you can detach the specialized module, tank it up and then hook it back to the phone and transfer the juice. This ways you get the freedom to use the phone whilst charging the extra ammo. I love the magnesium unibody frame designed for this, and of course the practical solution for charging. Ideal for travelers too!
